Playworks Values

As a Not for Profit organisation, we provide a professional, affordable service that meets strict standards for childcare set out by the Government.

Playworks is dedicated to providing professionally managed Out of School Clubs, supporting families with children from 3 to 11 years of age.

For children, our clubs offer a safe, structured environment run by familiar faces, where your child can grow and learn with friends. We encourage healthy meals and snacks, in line with healthy eating guidelines and The Welsh Assembly Government “Appetite for Life” Scheme.

All our settings are registered with the Local Authority Food Standards Agency and will receive visits from an Environmental Health Officer as part of the Scores on the Doors Scheme.

For parents and carers, we provide a professional service that combines childcare with structured play and learning.

Fully Trained Staff

Our Out Of School Clubs are run by local staff, who are trained, supported and suitably qualified to ensure they meet Playworks’ standards, as well as all regulatory legal requirements. All  staff are vetted prior to beginning employment, hold a full personnel file in line wih CIW guidelines and an  Enhanced Disclosure (DBS check) with the Disclosure & Barring Service.

As standard all staff receive training in:

  • Level 3 (12 hour) Paediatric First Aid
  • Level 2 Safeguarding/ Child Protection
  • Level 2 Food Safety
  • Prevent Duty
  • Allergen Awareness
  • Autism Awareness
  • Basic Health and Safety

We work closely with ACT Training to provide ongoing training opportunities for our team. Staff are encouraged to access training for the continued professional development. Additional training opportuites are available to staff through the Local Authority Chilcare Team/ Workforce Development.

Ali Brooks is employed by Playworks as our First Aid Trainer. Ali delivers First Aid Training at our Trainig Suite located in our Head Office in Caerphilly,  at regular periods througout the year. This ensures that all staff hold the required training qualifications and are able to access retraining opportunities before certificates expire.

Not for profit

As a not for profit organisation, we aim to deliver the best service available  for parents and carers, at an affordable price, that meets the standards for childcare set out by Government.
Based in Caerphilly, South Wales, Playworks originally established itself in the Cardiff region with a number of Out of School Clubs, before working to support those interested in setting up clubs further afield, around the UK.

Children’s committee

All Playworks clubs have a children’s committee, ensuring the people who really matter, can take ownership of their club! as well as regular childrens meetings,  we also have suggestion boxes at each club and actively encourage children to provide their input into the types of activities that are offered and the equipment that is available to them.

Feedback for you

You will receive regular feeback from the team, about how your child is enjoying the activities they participate in, along with any behavioural issues that might need to be shared. We pride ourselves in working in partnership with parents and carers.

Ongoing support

Each Playworks club will receive regular visits from the nominated Childcare Development Manager/ CIW Responsible Individual (RI) for the setting. The Development Manager along with Head Office staff will work the Club Manager to provide ongoinig support and ensure that the club operates inline with the requiremens of our Regulatory Body The Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW)
